How We Met
It was February 2013 in New York City. The couple’s first date was at a dive bar in midtown. When Christina walked in, Mike had Bruce Springsteen playing on the jukebox. Although dive bars were not Christina’s favorite thing, their mutual love of The Boss made for a perfect match!
The Proposal
Mike proposed in Paris, France at the end of September. The couple was in Europe to go to Oktoberfest and spent a few days in Paris before traveling to Munich, Germany. Mike and Christina were sitting down by the Seine River eating caviar and drinking champagne, as you do in Paris. As the bride later learned, Mike was about to propose and even had the ring out, when Christina saw a rat. The bride began calling out “rat!” Mike said that we should move locations and Christina agreed. The couple was walking along the Seine then onto the Point Neuf Bridge. With a perfect view of the Eiffel Tower on one side and Notre Dame Cathedral on the other, Mike got down on one knee and asked Christina to marry him. Christina immediately said yes!
Day to Day
Christina and Mike are proud residents of Long Island City in Queens, New York. Christina and Mike love to cook barbecue. When the weather is nice, the couple barbecues on their roof top deck as much as possible. Christina and Mike love barbecue so much that they even participated in the World Championship of Barbecue Cooking Contest in Memphis, TN!
About the Wedding
In order to celebrate the anniversary of their first date, the couple will be getting married in February 2017 in the bride’s hometown. The wedding venue holds a lot of memories for the bride and her family. The Ostran Family often had Sunday brunch at “The Molly” where the famous chicken pot pie was the dish of choice. Also, when the bride’s grandmother was pregnant with the bride’s father they moved into The Molly to enjoy the strong sea breeze, after all this was before air conditioning!
